Probabilistic dialogue act extraction for concept based multilingual translation systems

چکیده
This paper describes a probabilistic method for dialogue act (DA) extraction for concept-based multilingual translation systems. A DA is a unit of a semantic interlingua and it consists of speaker information, speech act, concept and argument. Probabilistic models for the extraction of speech acts or concepts are trained as speech act or concept dependent word n-gram models. The proposed method is evaluated on DA-annotated English and Japanese databases. The experimental results show that the proposed method gives a better performance compared to the conventioanl grammar-based approach. In addition, the proposed method is much more robust for erroneous inputs obtained as speech recognition outputs.

Evaluating a Probabilistic Dialogue Model for a Railway Information Task
Dialogue modelling attempts to determine the way in which a dialog is developed. The dialogue strategy (i.e., the system behaviour) of an automatic dialogue system is determined by the dialogue model. Most dialogue systems use rule-based dialogue strategies, but recently, the probabilistic models have become very promising. We present probabilistic models based on the dialogue act concept, whic...
متن کاملData-Driven Language Understanding for Spoken Language Dialogue∗
We present a natural-language customer service application for a telephone banking call center, developed as part of the AMITIES dialogue project (Automated Multilingual Interaction with Information and Services). Our dialogue system, based on empirical data gathered from real call-center conversations, features data-driven techniques that allow for spoken language understanding despite speech ...
متن کاملMultilingual Generation for Translation in Speech-to-Speech Dialogues and its Realization in Verbmobil
This paper presents the generation module of the speech-to-speech dialogue translation system Verbmobil. Spontaneous speech, large multilingual vocabulary, difficulty of the translation task, robustness and real-time constraints make the design of such a module very challenging. In order to overcome these difficulties, we have developed a system based on a general kernel and the declarativity o...
متن کاملDialogue-Based MT and self-explaining documents as an alternative to MAHT and MT of controlled languages
We argue that, in many situations, Dialogue-Based MT is likely to offer better solutions to translation needs than machine aids to translators or batch MT, even if controlled languages are used. Objections to DBMT have led us to introduce the new concept of “self-explaining document”, which might be used in monolingual as well as in multilingual contexts, and deeply change our way of understand...
متن کاملA syllable-based Chinese spoken dialogue system for telephone directory services primarily trained with a corpus
This paper presents a syllable-based Chinese spoken dialogue system for telephone directory services primarily trained with a corpus. It integrates automatic phrase extraction, robust phrase spotting, statistics-based semantic parsing by phrase-concept joint language model as well as concept-based dialogue model, and intention identification by probabilistic finite state network to form a speec...
